Event Report: With the leader suffering from the after-effects of a cold and a base camp manager with a bung ankle, only 3 walkers completed 80% of the first day walk, from Spring Hill to Mt Bingar - 10km of interesting walking, about 1/3 easy along rock slabs at the ege of the escarpment, then 2/3 bashing through fairly thick Leptospermum and Callitris regrowth scrub. Luckily the GPS has excellent maps and enabled accurate navigation. Day 2 we had 2 extra members from Wagga and decided we'd attempt the '2nd highest' peak on the range, just north of the excellent camping ground at Woolshed Flat. With some careful planning, and jettisoning the walking-challenged, the same 3 as yesterday managed to reach the summit - to find its actually the highest point in the Park by 14 meters! A quick bash down the hill, lunch at the camp, and home in daylight. An excellent weekends trip, a pity a few more members didn't sign on. Cocoparra is a wonderful range with a real outback feel to it.
